The Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion
What are the foundational beliefs of Episcopalian (Anglican) Christians? And where are these beliefs to be found? The answer to both questions is The Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion, which are in The Historical Documents of the Church section found in the back of The Book of Common Prayer (1979) (pp. 867-876). As one of the Formularies of the Church of England, the Articles lay out in a succinct fashion our confession of faith as Christians worshiping in the Anglican Way. Sadly, though, these Articles have often been neglected in the life of the Church. As those worshiping in the Reformed Catholic faith, it’s important that we get back in touch with these Articles and come to know them deeply. That said, for the five Sundays of Lent (Feb. 18th - March 18th), at 6:30pm, we will be doing an introductory study of the Articles, tackling approximately eight Articles per week. If you have ever had any questions about what Episcopalians believe, or even if you have not, you are encouraged to come out to this enlightening and faith-growing Lenten study.
Beginning Sun, February 18th, Fr. Kyle will be teaching a Lenten Series. It will be every Sunday for five weeks. The supper will start at 5:30 pm and the teaching will begin at 6:30 pm. There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex for those who would like to volunteer on providing a SUPPER for one of those evenings.
